Marie C. Bell

NORTHAMPTON - Marie C. Bell, 85, quietly passed away on Feb. 7, 2013, at Calvin Coolidge Nursing Home in Northampton.

Marie was born in Norwich, Conn., where she married John H. Bell of the United States Navy in 1946.

Marie created dozens of warm, welcoming homes as she and the children crisscrossed the country following her beloved John's navel career. She always practiced the belief that there was food for anyone who sat at her dinner table. Later in life, to amplify this belief, she volunteered at senior groups and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, donating food and cooking for anyone who was hungry. While living at Calvin Coolidge, hundreds of smiles were attributed to her donation of hand made scarves and baby blankets.

After 50 blissful years, John passed in 1996. Brothers, Chet, Frank and Norman also predeceased her.

She leaves her sister Shirley Vouaux of Sun City, Calif.; her children, Sherry Bell of Southampton, Lydia Romeo of Sterling Heights, Mich., Keith Bell of Egg Harbor, N.J., Cindy McDonald of Scottsville, Ky., Holly White of Lake Mary, Fla., Chris Bell of Colrain, Paty Henry of Newmanstown, Pa., and two "adopted" daughters, Janet Rogers of Ashfeld and Nancy Heidenreich of Southampton; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hurry along Mom, Dad's waiting.

Donations may be made to Calvin Coolidge Activites Program, 548 Elm St., Northampton MA 01060.
