EASTHAMPTON- Mary A. (Stepnowski) Huebner, 92, formerly of Williston Ave., Easthampton, passed away Saturday, Sep. 22, 2012, at her daughter Kathleen's home in Tucson, Ariz.
Mary was born May 18, 1920, in Easthampton, the daughter of the late Adam and Katherine (Ciak) Stepnowski. She was educated at the former Sacred Heart School and was a graduate of Easthampton High School.
She was employed as a lab technician for the former United Elastic Co. in Easthampton for several years, retiring in 1977.
She was a former communicant of the Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, the Sacred Heart of Jesus society, and a member of the Shut-in Committee of that parish. Presently Mary is a communicant of the Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Easthampton and the Santa Catalina Catholic Church in Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Huebner was a Cooley Dickinson Hospital Auxiliary volunteer in Northampton and was a member of both the Easthampton Helping Hand Society and the Wednesday Morning Get Together Club at the Easthampton Community Center. Many friends, relatives and children benefited from her seamstress and knitting skills. Her hands were never idle.
Her beloved husband of 67 years, Herbert J. Huebner, passed away in 2007.
Mary leaves her loving daughters, artist Beverly A. Wilson of Albuquerque, N.M. and Professor Emeritus at Salus University Kathleen M. Huebner of Tucson, Ariz., with whom she lived. She also leaves her grandson, Carter Wilson of Albuquerque, N.M. and her niece, Paula Jane Wilson of Carrizozo, N.M. Herb and Mary had a foster child, Jenny Izquirdo, of California. In addition, Herb and Mary had a way of informally "adopting special people" in their lives. These individuals include Scott McCarthy of Easthampton, Nancy Krawczyk of Hatfield, Dr. Susan Spungin of New York City, Dr. Teri Rafalowski Welch of Rochester, N.Y., Margaret Molenda of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mike Lagg of Carrizozo, N.M. Mary also leaves four nieces and their families.
The funeral will be held on Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Easthampton.
