MONTPELIER, Vt. - Melanie A Patten, 52, of Montpelier, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
She was born Aug. 8, 1960, in Chicopee, Mass., to the late Major William W. Patten and Mitsuko (Nakatogawa) Patten.
Melanie was raised in Florence, Mass., attending and graduating from Northampton High School class of 1978.
As a young adult Melanie dabbled in modeling and loved to play sports, especially softball and basketball.
She later worked as a UPS driver for many years.
Melanie was a very active and energetic person with a beautiful smile. She was an avid sports fan, namely the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills, loved good music, animals, bingo and traveling. Her greatest and proudest achievement was her children, and they will miss her greatly in her passing.
She is survived by her two children, Brian Kenney and his fiancée Hillary Tgettis of Northampton, Mass., and Tiffany Kenney of Springfield, Mass.; three brothers and their spouses, Edward and Maryann Patten of North Carolina, William and Constance Patten of South Yarmouth, Mass., and Wesley and Monique Patten of Whatley, Mass; a sister Debra Patten of West Springfield, Mass; a granddaughter Abigail Mitsuko Rosario of Springfield, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Annunciation Chapel, 82 Beacon St. Florence, Mass.
