EASTHAMPTON - Robert L. Barkowski, 75, of Easthampton and Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., passed away April, 8, 2013, at his Florida residence.
He was the son of the late Charles L. Barkowski and Celia A. (Zawacki) Barkowski.
After graduation from Becker College in Worcester, Bob joined his father in the family business, Raynor Door Sales, which he operated until his retirement in 2003, along with his sister Nancy Gwinner.
Bob golfed daily until the day of his death. He also enjoyed boating, cars and ballroom dancing. He may be best remembered for his lifelong love of aviation. He held a private pilot instrument rating license and enjoyed flying his plane with family and friends. He was also well known for his skill in building and flying scale aircraft. As a long time member and past president of the Hampshire County Radio Controllers, he could be seen at various RC model races, fairs and exhibitions racing planes and flying jet airplanes and helicopters.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Angelo of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and his grandson Jacob Angelo and granddaughter Jessica Angelo. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Gwinner of Southampton and her husband Edward (Red), and nieces Melissa and Bethany Babyak.
He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Addesso and his brother Charles, Jr.
Calling hours for Bob are Sunday, April 14, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home, 18 Adams St., Easthampton, entrusted by the family to provide for Bob's care and services.
The funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 33 Adams St.,
Easthampton, with burial to follow at the family gravesite at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Easthampton.
