GRANBY - Robert F. Maher, 85, died peacefully Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center.
Born in Northampton on Oct. 9, 1927, he was the son of William and Ellen (Carney) Maher. He had lived on Massasoit Street in Northampton for many years before moving to Granby 15 years ago.
He worked as a nurse's aide at Leeds VA Hospital for many years before retiring.
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Beverly (Wood) Maher, along with his two daughters, Kerry Loux and her husband, Douglas, of Florence, and Christine Langlois and her husband, Lawrence, of Holyoke; along with three sisters, Alice Brady and Katherine Murphy of Florence, and Margaret Boulanger of Westfield. He also leaves three grandchildren, Eliana, Katherine and Mary Ann.
Two sons, Steven and Timothy, along with siblings John, Eleanor Orchia, Lillian Niedzwiecki and grandson Nathaniel Langlois, preceded him in death.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Route 116).
A funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Church (please meet directly at the church), Belchertown, followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Agawam.
