AMHERST - Robyn McLaughlin of Amherst died Saturday, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Robyn was born July 7, 1949, in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Phyllis Entenman McLaughlin and the late Wilfrid C. McLaughlin. His sister, Pam McLaughlin and his brother, Bill McLaughlin also predeceased him.
Robyn received his bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College, his master's of business administration from University of Michigan
and his doctorate degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a professor of finance at Suffolk University.
Robyn was a keenly intelligent and compassionate man of extraordinary strength.
He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1985 and experienced declining physical ability over the years and increasing joy in the pleasures that life brings. His dry wit and unfailing good humor carried him and his loved ones through many difficult times. He was a power of example to all who knew him.
He leaves his wife of over 25 years, Barbara Bigelow, and his daughters, Emily Bigelow and Lissa McLaughlin.
A celebration of Robyn's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National MS Society New England Chapter, P.O. Box 845945, Boston, MA 02284.
