SPOFFORD, N.H. - Ronald Eugene Smith, 84, of Spofford, passed away Nov. 2, 2012, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland.
Born in Beverly, Mass., to Benjamin Frederick and Bertha (Murray) Smith, he grew up in Whalom, Mass. and attended the Fitchburg, Mass. school system.
Ronnie was a United States Navy
veteran who served aboard the U.S.S. Marias A057 and U.S.S. Eversole DD789 from 1945 to 1949.
He worked as a self employed automotive equipment salesman for nearly 50 years. He was much sought after and appreciated for his knowledge and honesty by many in the business throughout all of New England.
His passion for automobiles, hunting, fishing and gardening was nothing short of phenomenal to behold.
He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey A. of Spofford, Christopher A. of Easthampton, Mass. and Gary F. of South Deerfield, Mass.; a daughter-in-law ,Tina L. of Easthampton, Mass. and a cousin, Betty Murray of Nova Scotia, Canada.
He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marguerite Mary (Marinello) in 2007 and a brother, Frederick Murray who passed away in 1995.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
