AMHERST - Rose E. (Bourdon) Griffin, 89, of the Arbors in Amherst, passed away Thursday at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst.
Born April 12, 1923, in Northampton, Rose was the daughter of the late Albert and Rose (Bissonnette) Bourdon.
Educated in local schools, Rose was a 1941 graduate of Smith Vocational High School.
Before she was married, she worked at the former McCallum's Hosiery and then at the Florence Inn. Later she worked at the National Evaluation Systems in Amherst before her retirement.
Years ago, Rose enjoyed knitting and sewing and has always been an avid mystery reader.
Rose's first husband, Michael J. "Mickey" Griffin, Sr., passed away in 1976.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Czeropowicz; her daughter and care giver, Michelle G. Finley and her husband James "Fin" of Florence; her two sons, Michael J. Griffin Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Greenfield and Timothy P. Griffin and his wife Rachel of Orange; her brother, Robert Bourdon and his wife Millie of Worthington; her sister, Lillian Forguites of Northampton; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Bourdon of Florida; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Albert, Arthur, Roy (Mike), Raymond and by her sisters, Mary Ahearn, Ursula Guerrin and Louise Costello.
A Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 99 King St., Northampton. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling Hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ahearn Funeral Home.
