WILLIAMSBURG - Stafia E. (Olszewski) Ames, 92, passed away Nov. 4, 2012, at The Overlook at Northampton.
Born Sept. 1, 1920, Stafia was the daughter of the late Stanley and Adela (Kacenski) Olszewski of Hatfield. She attended Hatfield schools and graduated from Smith Academy in 1938.
She was employed at Williamsburg Blacksmiths and retired from R.B. Smith Insurance Agency.
Stafia served on the Williamsburg Planning Board and was a 30-year member of the Board of Registrars. Involved in many of the town's activities, Stafia was a member of the Williamsburg Historical Society and a leader of the 4-H, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts clubs.
She was an active member of Our Lady of the Hills Parish in Haydenville and served on the Parish Council.
Stafia enjoyed many activities, including reading, gardening, playing bridge, knitting, braiding and hooking rugs, and completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
She also relished spending winters in Florida visiting family and friends with her late husband Richard.
She leaves her son Richard and his wife Mary of Connecticut; son Robert and daughter Lynne, both of Florida; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Stafia's funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Ahearn Funeral Home, followed by a Memorial Mass in Our Lady of the Hills at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Leeds. A calling hour will precede the funeral Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m.
