Leesburg, Fla./Spring Green, Wis. - Carolyn M. (Huemmer) Baker, 87, died Aug. 15, 2013, in Minneapolis, Minn.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wis. on Aug. 17, 1925. Her parents were Frank and Anne (Reider) Huemmer.

She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing, Evanston, Ill. in 1946 and married Lester P. Baker on Aug. 20 of that year in Skokie Ill. Carol and Lester lived in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. for 20 years where they raised five children. Carol worked as a nurse for 12 years, and was President of the local VFW Auxiliary for two years. They moved to Massachusetts in 1968 and lived in Northampton and Westfield before moving to Leesburg, Fla. in 2006. She worked at the Forbes Library in Northampton for 10 years. Carol enjoyed working on her family's genealogy history since 1973.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, and sister Jeanette (Robert) Evans.

She leaves a son, Robert (Jan) Baker of San Antonio, Texas; their children Kristen (Jason) and Madeleine, and Riley Wightman, Helotes, Texas, and Brandon (Erica) and Dante and Luca Baker, Helotes, Texas; a son Charles Baker of LeGrande, Ore., a son James (Judy) Baker of E. Granby, Conn.; a daughter Elizabeth (Stephen) Shepard of Buffalo, Minn., their children Lauren (Mike) and Zackary, and Emma O'Neil of Buffalo, Minn., Angela (Evan) and Benjamin Martin of Bloomington, Ind.; a daughter Bonnie (Tim) Paddock of Dade City, Fla.; their children Matthew Paddock of Washington, DC, and Stacey (James) Maniscalco of Pittsburg, Pa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at St. John's Catholic Church in Spring Green, Wis. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial at St. John's Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
