PITTSFIELD - Ernest Lee St. Martin, 69, of Second Street, Pittsfield, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Albany Medical Center.

Known as "Lee" to his friends and family, he was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Northampton. He attended schools there and graduated from the former St. Michaels High School.

Lee was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Navy. After serving his country, he briefly joined his mother working as a barber and hairdresser. His lifetime career was working as a computer programmer for the Beloit-Jones Corporation in Dalton, from which he retired after 30 years.

In retirement, Lee was a landlord and served as an active member on the board of Rental Housing Association of Berkshire County (RHABC). Lee had an active social life and many friends. He was enthusiastic about everything in which he was involved and passionate about everyone he loved. He enjoyed spending time with his extended family in Pittsfield. His many activities included selling and racing MG cars, going to Mohegan Sun, practicing scuba diving, participating in Geo Tracking, riding his motorcycles, boating, and enjoying the outdoors. More than anything, Lee was thrilled at the prospect of hunting down and finding a good bargain. He shared these treasures with his friends. He was quick to offer advice with a smile or a lending hand to whomever needed it. He was a gentleman in the true sense of the word.

Lee will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. He is survived by his daughter Lee Anne St. Martin, a brother Dennis St. Martin, and his step-mother Sophie St. Martin, all of Easthampton, and by a son Brian St. Martin. He also is survived by his loving companion Bev Alcombright of North Adams. He leaves behind his beloved 17 year old cat, Flitter. Lee will be deeply missed by his many friends in the Pittsfield area, in particular his friend of 40 years, Rick Kielman.

Lee was predeceased by his parents Leo St. Martin and Lorraine (Boucher) LaLiberty.

Services will be scheduled at a later date at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Pittsfield Cemetery.

Donations in Lee's memory may be made to the Soldiers Home Recreation Fund, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040.

The Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
