She married the late Bernard E. Kahle Oct. 10, 1942, and they lived together in South Deerfield before relocating to Fruitland Park, Fla., in 1985.

She had a great love of music, playing both the harmonica and accordion. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and bingo, visiting casinos to play the slot machines, shopping tag sales and thrift stores, and watching Red Sox games. Sophie loved all her friends, both in Massachusetts and in Florida. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sophie's beloved husband Bernard predeceased her in 1997. They had been married for 55 years.

As were Sophie's wishes, there will be no viewing hours.

All are welcome to attend a Requiem Mass and celebration of her life Friday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, South Deerfield, with the Rev. Randolph Calvo officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
