FLORENCE - Adam Czarniecki, 84, of 291 Riverside Drive passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 4, 2013.
He was born in Poland on May 20, 1929 the son of the late Ignacy and Maria (Dobrowolski) Czarniecki.
He left Poland in his youth due to the war, first traveling to Siberia, then later Lebanon and England.
He was educated in several countries including Lebanon. While residing in England he was a member of the armed forces there.
He immigrated to the United States settling in the Northampton area.
He was a lifelong farmer, growing cucumbers in the Meadows, and had many Northampton youth working with him over the years.
He also worked in various mills in the Springfield area, especially in the winter, to support his family.
He leaves his wife of 53 years; Irene (Novak) of Florence. His children; Richard of Granby, Conn., Roman of Southampton and Elizabeth Vincent of Spencer, Mass. Seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. His siblings; Stefa Szopa of Easthampton, Agnes Trela of Springfield, Janina Moszynski of Easthampton and Joseph Czarniecki of Holyoke and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Adam was predeceased by a sister, Bronislawa Szopa.
A Mass for Adam will be held on Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 11 a.m. Calling hours will precede the Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hadley.
