NORTHAMPTON – Alice (Pratt) Beals, 94, passed away Dec. 31, 2012, at The Overlook at Northampton.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was born July 19, 1918, in Williamsburg and lived most of her life in Goshen.
She was predeceased by her parents, Horace and Alice (Packard) Pratt; her husband, Robert Beals and sons Charles and Walter "Nicky" Beals.
She graduated from Smith Vocational High School.
Although Alice was a stay at home mother, she had a full life and always had time to help others with babysitting and other neighborly duties. She never had a harsh word to say about anyone and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
She is survived by her nephews and nieces, Roger Pratt of Maine, Lorraine Hanlon of Florida, Joanne Dorman of West Brookfield and Frank and Joseph Scalia of Connecticut.
Many who knew Alice thought of her as a second mother and grandmother as her heart and home were open to all. Alice was proud and cherished by her friends, family and community. She enjoyed picnics, family reunions, holiday gatherings, camping, snowmobiling and community activities.
She was a member of the Goshen Women's Club, Council on Aging and was a 4-H Leader.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for our aunt, including Dr. Yoss and all the staff on the west wing at Overlook; nursing, activities, dining and cleaning staff.
A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 12, 2013, at 12 noon at the Goshen Town Hall. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Overlook at Northampton Activities Department, 222 River Rd., P.O. Box 313, Leeds, MA 01053.
