NORTHAMPTON – Carolyn O. "Dee" Blauvelt, 84, formerly of Hatfield Street, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Overlook at Northampton.

Born Aug. 9, 1929, in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Carroll E. and Josephine (Wilson) Cranson.
She attended local schools, graduating from Northampton High School class of 1947. She also attended Smith College.
Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper for several area businesses including Acme Autobody and Smith College.
She was an active member of the Florence Congregational Church having served as treasurer, moderator, assistant treasurer and choir member. She was also active on various boards and committees at the church over the years.
Among her other interests were gardening, baking and sewing.
Carolyn was the widow of Theodore Blauvelt who predeceased her in 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Edward Omasta of Columbus, Ohio, and C. James Omasta of Florence, her granddaughter Christine Omasta Kellogg, and her two great-grandsons, Wes and Abrham Kellogg.
Calling hours for Carolyn will be held Friday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect St., Northampton.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at Florence Congregational Church, 130 Pine St., Florence. Burial at the Bridge Street Cemetery will be private.
