NORTHAMPTON - Charles A. "Charlie" Berube, 85, of 239 North Street, passed away peacefully Monday, June 16, 2014, at Linda Manor Nursing and Rehab.

Charlie was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Northampton, the son of the late Charles and Mae (Ryan) Berube. He was a lifelong resident of Northampton, attending local schools and graduating from Northampton High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving towards the end of World War II. Charlie was a self-employed electronic salesman, traveling a large route for many years, calling on his many customers.

He was a lifetime member of the Westfield Elks Lodge #1481. Charlie and his wife Pauline traveled extensively, visiting many states and countries throughout their lives.

He leaves his wife of 35 years, Pauline (Heinz) Berube of Northampton, and his children Kathy Hankard and her husband Martin of North Carolina, Debra Carrier and her husband Mark of Westfield, Daniel Berube and his wife Patricia of Westfield, Michael Berube of Florida, Brian Boyer and his wife Esther of Whately, and Cynthia Berube and her husband Edward of Florence. He also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his siblings Dorothy Ethier and her husband William of Easthampton, and Edward Berube of Florence, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton. Burial will follow in Bridge Street Cemetery.
