HADLEY- Charles J. Niedbala Sr., 76, of 136 East St., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, after a brief illness.

Charlie was born Oct. 10, 1936, in Hadley, the son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Wojewoda) Niedbala.

He was a lifelong Hadley native, was educated in local schools and graduated from Hopkins Academy.

Charlie owned and operated Hadley Auto Service for 55 years and also Niedbala farms on East Street for over 40 years.

Charlie loved the outdoors, farming the family land and especially loved hunting on trips out West with family and friends. He and his wife were a familiar sight at many area Polka dances.

He leaves his beloved wife of 54 years, Juliana (Uchneat) Niedbala; his children, Charles Jr. and his wife Tina of Hadley, James and his wife Sharon and their children, Michael, Steven and Jennifer of South Hadley, Robert and his wife Kim and their son Daniel of Hadley, Peter and his children, Madeline and Olivia of Hadley, Patricia Mathison and her husband Charles and their son Jack of Groveland; his siblings, Sylvia Woicekoski of Northampton, Mary Anne Kowaleck of Sunderland, Shirley Reardon of Franklin, H. William Niedbala, Richard Niedbala, Mark Niedbala and Sandra Samuel, all of Hadley, and Carol Plaza of Hudson, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Lorraine Gronostalski, Nancy Farrick and Joseph and Thomas Niedbala.

Calling hours at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton will be on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6 p.m. The family invites you to join them on Monday morning at Most Holy Redeemer Church at 10 a.m. to celebrate the Liturgy of Christian burial for Charlie. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hadley.
