EASTHAMPTON - Donald E. Barton, 90, of Park Street, passed away on Dec. 4, 2012, at the Holyoke Soldiers Home.

Born in Leyden, Donald was the son of the late Gilbert and Mildred (Denison) Barton.

Donald retired in 1987 from the Northeast Utilities Company, and previous had worked for the B & M Railroad.

He was a 1940 graduate of Greenfield High School and a World War II Veteran serving with the U.S. Army.

A member of the Easthampton Dalton LaVallee Post 224, the Patrick F. McCarthy Post 3416 the Easthampton Lions Club and a communicant of the Our Lady of the Valley Church.

Donald leaves his wife of 66 years, Virginia (Pickwell) Barton; his son, Richard Barton of Easthampton; two daughters, Carol Houle and her husband, Michael of Easthampton; and Jane Goss and her husband, Dennis of St. Louis, M.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Donald was predeceased by his, son David Barton; his brothers, Douglass and Kenneth Barton; and his sisters, Dorothy Quinn and Ruth Sawyer.

His funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St., Easthampton, followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of The Valley Church, 33 Adams St., Easthampton.

Burial with military honors will be at Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 1 to 4.
