MELBOURNE, Fla. - Dorothy Flanagan died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Viera Hospital, Florida, following a brief illness, 30 days after her 95th birthday.

Dot, the youngest of three sisters, was born in 1919, in Northampton, Massachusetts, to Daniel and Bridget Clifford (Daly), immigrants from Cahersiveen, Ireland.
Dot graduated from St. Michael's High School and in 1940 received a bachelor's degree from Elms College of Chicopee, Massachusetts.
She taught English in Northampton, before marrying Lt. George Flanagan of Easthampton, Massachusetts in 1943. They were married for 62 years before George's death in 2005. In retirement they lived in Melbourne, and Pemaquid Point, Maine.
Dot is survived by two children, David and Martha; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephew William Dwyer of Hadley, Massachusetts; and three nieces, Rosemary McNulty, Diane O'Connell and Sharon Shreve.
Dot will be laid to rest following a memorial service Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, 380 Academy Hill Road, Newcastle, ME.
