HATFIELD - Helen (Kosakowski) Gizienski, 88, of Carlisle, Penn., formerly of Hatfield, passed away Friday, at Sarah Todd Memorial Home in Pennsylvania.

She was born March 5, 1924, in Hatfield, to the late Frank and Alexandria (Zempko) Kosakowski.
Helen was married to the late John J. Gizienski, Sr., who passed away Nov. 29, 1984.
Helen was educated in Hatfield, and also attended Cosmetology school in Holyoke. In the early 1950s, Helen owned and operated Helen's Beauty Salon in Northampton and then worked for Anthony's Beauty Salon in Greenfield.
Helen was a former communicant of Holy Trinity Church, and was a member of the Rosary Sodality at both Holy Trinity and Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Hadley. She was a member of the Hatfield Woman's Club, Hatfield Historical Society and enjoyed oil painting so much that she took many painting classes to perfect her hobby. She was also an avid gardener.
Helen is survived by her loving son, John J. Gizienski, Jr., and his wife Linda, of Mechanicburg, Penn.; her grandchildren, Carrie Gizienski of Havertown, Penn., Amy Gizienski of Collingswood, N.J., and Jennifer Polk of Coatesville, Penn.; her great-grandchildren, Noah Gizienski of Havertown, Penn., Eliot Dewitt of Collingswood, N.J., and Layla Polk of Coatesville.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Henry Kosakowski.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Drozdal Funeral Home, Northampton. Funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our lady of Grace Parish, Hatfield. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Hatfield.
