EASTHAMPTON- Helen M. Desmarais,96, passed awawy Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst with family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna Sulisz. She was a lifelong resident of Easthampton where she attended local schools.

She was married for 64 beautiful years to Henry "Hank" Desmarais who passed away in 2004. Together she and Henry ran his upholstering business. Helen was an excellent seamstress and she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. But most of all she loved her family. There was always a pot of homemade soup on the stove for whoever might stop by.
Helen was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and Edward Sulisz of Easthampton.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Bergmann and Ellen Desmarais, both of Easthampton; her son-in-law, Jeremiah "Corky" Lucey and her beloved granddaughter, Shelby Benoit who so lovingly cared for her Babchhi. She lived with Ellen and her family for several years. She leaves five grandchildren, Daniel, Keith and Karl Bergmann of Easthampton, Kevin Sullivan of Easthampton and Tamara New of Ohio and three great grandchildren, Samantha and Sidney New of Ohio and Shelby Benoit of Easthampton. She also leaves her beloved dog Mariah who was always by her side.
