SOUTHAMPTON - Irvin R. Mocheski, 88, of Southampton, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in Calvin Coolidge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northampton.

He was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Easthampton, the son of the late William and Hilda Katschmann Mocheski.
He attended Easthampton schools and later entered the U.S. Army Air Corp on April 7, 1943. He was discharged from the Army with a grade of sergeant on Feb. 2, 1946.
He was first employed as a sheet metal worker and then became a self employed building contractor. He founded Irvin's Builders, retiring in 1993. His company built Ed's Super Market, now known as Big E's in Easthampton. He was well respected in the building trade and enjoyed helping and advising others in this work.
Irvin was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Easthampton.
Irvin is survived by one nephew Chester Mocheski, Jr., of New Jersey and two nieces, Mary Anne Sarafain of Shutesbury and Patricia Malanson of Southampton.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Wallace and Chester Sr. Mocheski.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 4, from 10 to 10:45 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Easthampton, followed by a graveside service with military honors at 11 a.m. in Brookside Cemetery, Williston Avenue, Easthampton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Irvin's memory may be given to Veteran Administration Central Western Massachusetts Health Care, 421 North Main St., Leeds, MA 01053.
