AMHERST - Joan Boytos departed peacefully from this life Dec. 24, 2012.

She was born Jan. 25, 1928, in London, England, the daughter of the late Leslie and Nellie Rumbold. She immigrated to the United States in 1942.
She married her late husband, Michael Boytos, on Sept. 1, 1949. They raised two children, Arlene and Greg in Levittown and later in Stony Brook, N.Y.
One of Joan's greatest accomplishments was graduating from Nassau Community College and working for the State University of New York in Stony Brook as an accountant. She and Mike moved to St. Augustine, Fla., in 1992 and she later relocated to Daytona Beach shores.
She leaves behind her beloved family to cherish her memory, her children, Arlene Spooner of Conway, Greg Boytos of Cary North Carolina and son-in-law Jeffrey Spooner of Conway; her grandchildren, Kyle, Ian and Jenna Spooner of Conway and Doug and Mark Boytos of Cary North Carolina.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and siblings Freda, John, Helen and Patrick.
Joan's family would like to thank the caring staff at the Inn at Lathrop Retirement Community and the Center for Extended Care, Amherst, for their care of our Mom throughout the end of her journey.
There will be a private memorial service.
