WHATELY - John K. Jarosewicz, 103, of 73 Webber Road, West Whately, formerly of both South Deerfield and Lynn, passed away May 2, 2013.

He was born Jan. 27, 1910, in Shenandoah, Pa., to the late Martin and Anna (Brynda) Jaroszewicz. At the age of six months, he and his parents returned to Bialystok, Poland, where he grew up.
At the age of 18, he returned to Cudahy, Wis., worked in a slaughter house for a year and moved to Lynn where he married his loving wife, the late, Hedwig I. (Kochan) Jarosewicz, and raised a family.
After his retirement from the General Electric Company in both Lynn and Everett, where he operated a lathe machine and made jet engine parts for 32 years, he moved to South Deerfield, Stuart, Fla., for 9 years, returned to South Deerfield and then to West Whately, where he lived with his daughter Joan Baldwin for the last six and a half years.
He enjoyed being "Mr. Fix It," creating and repairing everything, including making picnic tables, woodworking and painting; traveling, swimming, walking, gardening, doing word finds, reading and playing his accordion. At the age of 90 he remained active, poured three sets of cement steps and engaged in sheet rocking.
He leaves behind his daughter Julie Stevenson and her husband Gregory of Georgetown; his son Edward Jaroszewicz and his wife Henryka of Lynn and his daughter Joan Baldwin of West Whately; his grandchildren John, James and Eric Stevenson, Jane Bell, Matthew Jarozewicz, Eric and Erin Baldwin; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his loving wife who died Jan. 10, 2006, he was predeceased by a granddaughter Kristen and a brother Walter.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish Church, South Deerfield. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Drozdal Funeral Home, 120 Damon Road, Northampton.
