DESOTO, FLA. - John R. "Jack" Tobin, 89, of Arcadia and Florence, Mass., passed away Nov. 16, 2012.

Jack was born Jan. 18, 1923, in Florence, the son of the late George and Ethel (Miller) Tobin.

He was educated in local schools and was a 1941 graduate of the former St. Michael's High School.

He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy he recieved the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal.

Jack owned and retired from the Tobin Brothers Inc. Jack has been traveling to DeSoto County in Florida for 33 years, spending six months a year there since 1988.

He was a longtime communicant of the Annunciation Church in Florence and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Northampton Country Club and Hickory Ridge Country Club.

Jack is survived by his wife of 35 years, Beverly (Campbell) Tobin and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (Gray) Tobin, six brothers and one sister.

Jack's Funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the Ahearn Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Annunciation Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 1 p.m. Calling hours will preced the funeral, Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
