WEST HATFIELD – Joseph R. Ravish, Jr., 70, of West Street, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Linda Manor Extended Care facility in Leeds.

Born Feb. 5, 1943, in Northampton, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Phyllis H. (Steele) Ravish.
Joseph attended Northampton schools and graduated from Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School.
He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. He worked as a nursing assistant for the V.A. Medical Hospital in Leeds and had also worked at Yankee Machine.
Joseph enjoyed reading, art – particularly painting, and had previously enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia L. Ravish of East Templeton; two grandchildren, Erika Ravish and Holly Ravish-Thayer; a great-grandchild, Carter Ravish-Thayer; a sister, Joyce Irwin of Whately; a brother, Peter Ravish of Venice, Fla.; and a nephew, Brian Ravish of South Deerfield.
Calling hours for Joseph will be held Friday, Aug. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a funeral home service at 11 a.m at the Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect St., Northampton. A Chapel service with military honors and interment will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at Winchendon.
