HADLEY – The third oldest resident of Hadley, Julia Katherine Buckowski Adams, passed away peacefully at the home of her son in South Deerfield on March 2, 2018.

This day was also the birthday of her late daughter, Joanne Daughdrill and the birthday of Tina Wise's youngest son. On March 2, 2018, Julia's great-granddaughter, Katelynn Adams, also had the passing of her special cow, Penney.

Julia was born in Hadley on February 19, 1920 and for 98 years, she lived in various locations on Russell Street. Julia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley, her daughter and son-inlaw Robert and Joanne Daughdrill, her son Eddie Martin Adams and Julia's first granddaughter Melinda Asselin.

Julia was a devoted mother to her daughter Nancy Muraski, her son Stan Adams and her daughter-in-law Nancy Adams. She leaves a sister Barbara Fydenkevez, Melinda's husband Joseph Asselin, eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.

Julia was very active in her younger days at the Hadley Senior Center and the Most Holy Redeemer Parish, where she was a member of the Rosary Confraternity and Polish Women's Alliance. Julia was always involved in church events and she could often be found in the kitchen, as well as being part of the set-up and clean-up crew.

She was a Gold Star Mother, having lost her son to the Vietnam war.

For thirty-three years, Julia worked at the Pro Brush Company. In her retirement, Julia worked for Joe Asselin at CHI Insurance Company in Holyoke quickly accomplishing any task given to her.

A funeral mass of the Catholic Liturgy will take place on Thursday, May 17 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish, 29 Sugarloaf St., So. Deerfield, with Father Jonathan Reardon, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will be immediately following at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hadley, followed by a reception at the Most Holy Redeemer Parish Hall on Russell Street. Donations can be made to Holy Family Capital Fund, 29 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield, 01373.
