FLORENCE-June M. Upham, 81, of Florence, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital with her family by her side.

June was born June 10, 1931, in Northampton, to the late Stillman and Blanche (Bernache) Brooks. She attended Easthampton schools, graduating from Easthampton High School in 1949. She was retired from Chartpak in Leeds where she worked in quality control.
June was generous with her time and participated in many community groups and events. She was a longtime member of the Florence Congregational Church, joining in various activities over the years including the sewing exchange and annual bazaar. A talented crafter, June enjoyed knitting and counted cross-stitch. She also enjoyed gardening and baking.
June will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, Donald C. Upham; their son, Bob and his wife Irene of Whately; their daughter, Joanne Sheardy and her husband Richard of Denton, Texas; four grandchildren, Stephen Upham, Kevin Upham, Allison Sheardy and Alex Sheardy; her brother, Ted Brooks of Westhampton; three sisters, Jean Alward of Northampton, Noreen Cole of Florida and Nancy Motyka of Westhampton; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of June's life will be held Monday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Florence Congregational Church, 130 Pine St., Florence, with burial at Spring Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect St., Northampton on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in June's memory to the Florence Congregational Church.
