FLORENCE - Karen Leveille, formerly of Southampton and Hadley, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at her home, surrounded by the love and support of family and friends. She contended with multiple myeloma for several years but managed to go on leading a rich and creative life, all the while showing great affection for all who loved her.

Karen is survived by two daughters, Emily Brennan of Northampton and Katie Brennan of Hadley and her mother Felicia Nowakowski Leveille of Hadley, and was predeceased by her father Robert E. Leveille of Southampton. She also leaves her sister Diane Leveille of Belchertown; her two brothers and their spouses, David Leveille and Lucinda Merriam Leveille of Arlington, and Rick Leveille and Elaine Dunlap of Hadley; an aunt Theresa Peterson of Easthampton; an uncle Robert Nowakowski of West Springfield; and two nephews, Chris and Michael Leveille of Hadley.
She also leaves her dear partner Jean-Luc Daudergnies of La Varenne Saint Hilaire, France, who was at her side.
Karen was a graduate of Smith College and the Conway School of Landscape Design. She was employed by Amy Anthony Associates and for many years at HAP, Inc., in Springfield.
Karen loved France and everything French. She drew inspiration from her travels there in creating many of her watercolor paintings. Her family will carry on with her plans to mount an exhibit of her paintings at Forbes Library in Northampton in December.
The family would like to thank her cousin Janice Peterson for her devoted support during Karen's illness, her many friends who provided assistance and love, her Doctor Deborah Smith of Florence, and the doctors and nurses of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Hospice of C.D.H. Northampton.
Funeral arrangements are being provided by the Pease and Gay Funeral Home on Locust Street in Northampton. Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 9, from 4 to 7 p.m.
There will be a service in memory of Karen Wednesday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Easthampton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
