CHESTERFIELD – Katherine Sally (Sokolosky) Tessier passed away at Baystate Medical Center  May 16, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Kathie was born in Turners Falls on Jan. 26, 1941, to Frances and Frank Sokolosky, who predeceased her.

Kathie was educated in the Greenfield public schools and went on to attain her Nursing Degree at Worcester City Hospital in Worcester. Kathie worked locally as a delivery nurse, in the care of psychiatric patients and retiring from Rockridge Nursing Home where she cared for the elderly.

Kathie leaves her husband, best friend and biggest supporter after more than 50 years of marriage, Thomas (Tim) Tessier of Chesterfield, who she met after a day of skiing in 1964 and married in 1965.

Kathie leaves her children Brian J. Tessier of Brookfield, and Melissa A. (Tessier) Betsold of Whately and her Husband John.  Kathie gave up nursing after the birth of her two children, during that time Kathie was an active parent. Kathie was also engaged in the Parish life of St Catherine's Church in Leeds and Our Lady of the Hills in Haydenville. However, her family was the primary focus. She ensured that traditions were carried on, that her home was always a welcome spot, had an open door and support for all.

Caring, being part of a community and helping others were passions of hers. However, her greatest passion was for her grandchildren, especially spending annual vacations in Maine, watching the seagulls.   Kathie leaves a legacy of unconditional love to them and a lifetime of commitment, whether hosting annual cookie night, reading bedtime stories, babysitting or lectures on how not to be a "dope" delivered to her four grandsons. Kathie leaves Missy's two sons, Christopher A. Browsky of Haydenville and Andrew T. Browsky of Keene NH. She also leaves Brian's two sons, Benjamin J. Tessier and Bryce J. Tessier both of Brookfield.

Kathie is survived by her Sister, Martha (Sokolosky) Knightly of Ware and Martha's husband Bill. Her brother, Frank (Mike) Sokolosky predeceased her.   Kathie leaves, nieces, nephews, godchildren and many of her children and grandchildren's friends, or former students of her husband, who called her everything from Mom, Ma, Mrs. T to, G-Ma.   She leaves a legacy of love.

Calling Hours will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday May 20, 2018. Funeral Services will be at Our Lady of the Hills on Monday May 21st 2018 at Noon (12:00 p.m.). Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Leeds. Arrangements are being handled by Czelusniak Funeral Home, located 173 North St, Northampton, MA 01060.
