NORTHAMPTON - Lorraine (Woloss) Kowalski, 74, of Hatfield Street, passed away Jan. 23, 2013, at Baystate Medical.

Born April 4, 1938, in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Vishaway) Woloss.

She graduated from Smith Academy High School in Hatfield.

Lorraine worked for 12 years at the Nonotuck Savings Bank, then worked as a transcriptionist at the VA Medical Center in Leeds, from which she retired 27 years later.

After retirement, she volunteered at the Northampton Senior Center. Lorraine was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church where she married her husband of 50 years, Henry Kowalski. The couple loved to travel, going on trips to all the New England beaches, Martha's Vineyard and cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. They enjoyed taking trips to see polka bands, especially Eddie Foreman, and were exceptional polka and ballroom dancers.

Lorraine liked spending time with her friends and dinners out with her retired VA co-workers. However, what she loved the most was having family get-togethers. She was an extremely loving and devoted Aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine leaves her husband Henry; her brothers, Rudy Woloss and his wife Gladys of South Deerfield and Richard Woloss and his wife Betty of West Hatfield; her sister Eleanor Sicard of Agawam; Brothers-in-law, Jim Zehelski and his wife Jan, Mitch Kowalski and his wife Kay, Karl Kowalski, Dennis Kowalski and his wife Julie and Paul Kowalski and his wife Barbara; sister-in-law Debbie Chereski and her husband John; several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and nephews; and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton.
