NORTHAMPTON -- Madison Ruth Meade Young, 20, died June 11, 2018, in Philadelphia, where she was a student at Temple University. Madison's Hebrew name is Miriam bat Adinah v'Leah.

A lover of life and friends and family, Madison loved cats, children, her family and had a zest for life. She was kind, compassionate, loyal and driven. She was fiercely independent. She was a gold-star customer at Sephora. She rocked fake eyelashes like nobody else.

Madison was the beloved daughter of Christine Young and Lauri Meade and sister of Zachary and Reed Young. She also leaves her father, Paul Entis, of Washington, D.C. and stepmother, Sarah Sullivan.

Born Sept. 22, 1997, in Northampton, Madison attended city schools and participated in both Congregational B'nai Israel (CBI) and Beit Ahavah Reform Synagogue. Madison had just completed her junior year at Temple University studying to be a social worker, and she was spending the summer in Philadelphia working at the Woodstock Family Center, which provides shelter for homeless women and children.

She was a 2015 graduate of Northampton High School, where she played field hockey and had a loving circle of friends. She attended Gan Keshet preschool, Lander-Grinspoon Academy, Bridge Street Elementary School, JFK Middle School and Northampton High School. She volunteered at the Northampton Survival Center, Dakin Animal Shelter and fostered kittens.

Madison became Bat Mitzvah at CBI, and worked as a favorite and beloved teen assistant teacher at Beit Ahavah. A lover of travel, she went to Israel wIth Leah and Mali Finch in 2015. She also spent her spring semester sophomore year studying in Italy. During that time, she travelled all over Europe and the United Arab Emirates.

For several years, Madison worked at the Springfield-based Children's Study Home in a residential program.

She leaves a loving, gigantic, extended family. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves grandparents Sherri Meade, Sanford Meade, Judith Gomberg Meade, Marilyn Entis.

She was predeceased by grandparents Arthur and Phyllis Young and Larry Entis. She leaves great aunts Barbara Gomberg and Michelle Solomon; aunts and uncles Sharon Martin, Stephen and James Young, Robert Meade, Martin and Jason Wahl.

She leaves behind a large circle of friends heartbroken at her passing.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 13, 11 a.m. at Congregation B'nai Israel, 253 Prospect Street, Northampton. It will be co-officiated by Rabbi Riqi Kosovske and Rabbi Justin David.

Shiva gatherings and minyan services to say Kaddish throughout the immediate week will be held at the home of Lauri Meade and Sarah Sullivan, 15 Adare Place, Northampton at these times: Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 with the service at 6:30 and in the mornings on Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday from 8-8:30 a.m. and Sunday from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
