HADLEY - Michael J. Majewski, Sr., 91, of Hadley, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at home, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Hadley, he was son of the late Joseph and Mary (Szostok) Majewski.
Growing up in his family homestead, Michael was a lifelong resident of Hadley. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Hopkins Academy in 1941. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marines.
Michael worked as Hadley's Highway Department supervisor until retiring in 1984. He had been employed with the town of Hadley for more than 30 years. He was especially fond of his hometown of Hadley.
Michael was a strong and ambitious worker and took pride in his gardens. He enjoyed farming; raising potatoes, asparagus, Indian corn and vegetables.
Michael is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn (Bresciano) Majewski and four children, two sons, Michael, Jr., of Hadley and his companion Sharon Canfield, both of whom were instrumental in his attentive care and Peter and his wife Chris of Belchertown, two daughters, MaryAnn Brawn and her husband Gordon of Pelham, N.H., and Jeanne Wehry and her husband Patrick of Hatfield. He will be missed by his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie Matusko and Ann Korzon.

There are no calling hours. Burial will be private.
