NORTHAMPTON - Michael P. Jones, 74, of 170 Federal St., passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, surrounded by his family.

Born July 7, 1938, in Northampton, he was the son of the late Edmund and Katherine (McGrath) Jones.

Michael was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Smith Vocational High School.

He was a heavy equipment operator, especially cranes, for many years for the Local 98 Union, where he was a member for 55 years. He was a member of the Model T Club of Pioneer Valley and had served in the Army National Guard.

Michael is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Adams) Jones; his three children, Michael P. Jones Jr. and his wife Tammy of Springfield, Paul E. Jones and his wife Karen of Feeding Hills and Therese M. Jones of Northampton; his two brothers, Robert Jones and Gerald Jones, both of Northampton; his sister Therese Forrestall of Hatfield; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Richard and John and his sisters, Margaret Hurley and Ann Wales.

Michael's Funeral will be Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Rd., Northampton. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling Hours are Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
