EASTHAMPTON – Nora Ann (Dombkowski) McCarthy, 93, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully Saturday, May 18, 2013, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 28, 1919, in Easthampton, and was the daughter of the Frank and Frances (Golas) Dombkowski.
A life long resident of Easthampton, she was educated at the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Parochial School and a graduate of Easthampton High School with the class of 1937.
In her younger years, she had worked at the former Battery Factory and the former Lesnow Coat Factory.
Nora was married in 1940 to Edward George McCarthy and they celebrated 57 years of marriage together, before his death Jan. 20, 1997.
She was a former communicant of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, a member of the Saint Cecilia's Choir, Holy Rosary Sodality and continued to this day, to maintain her proud polish heritage. After her marriage to Edward in 1940 she became a communicant at the former Immaculate Conception Parish, now Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a member of the Woman's Club and the Daughters of Isabella.
She was a former housekeeper for the late Father Flahevy and Father Burns at Immaculate Conception Rectory. Her love of church and faith, she would pray the rosary daily, she also enjoyed cooking polish dishes, sewing and knitting.
Nora is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Robert "Bob" E. McCarthy and his wife Rae of Easthampton; five granddaughters, Tara, Julie, Devon, Robin and Allison, all of Vermont; along with nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Edward McCarthy, she was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia in 1946 and Sandra in 1966 and a son Michael in 1986, along with two brothers and three sisters, Joseph, Anthony, Helen, Geneve and Bertha.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 33 Adams St., Easthampton. Burial will follow at the family grave site at Saint Brigid's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday morning prior the service at 9:15 a.m. at the Graham Funeral Home, 18 Adams St., Easthampton, who has been entrusted by the family to provide for Nora's care and services.
