WESTHAMPTON – Olga Cernak Hathaway, 88, of Westhampton, peaceably went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 3, 2012, leaving her husband of 68 years, Frank E. Hathaway.

Olga was born the 14th child of 15 children, in West Farms, a part of Northampton.

At the age of 3 years old, her family moved to Easthampton. Growing up, she attended the public schools and graduated from Easthampton High in 1942. Olga furthers her education at Northampton Commercial College, graduating in 1944. One year following her graduation, she married the love of her life, Frank E. Hathaway of Westhampton.

Her first employment was bookkeeper at Beckmans Restaurant. She later worked as the small claims clerk at the Northampton District Court.

In her younger years, Olga was active raising a family of three sons, serving her church, schools and served as the town treasurer for 15 years. For approximately the last 15 years, Olga was the Coordinator for the Hilltown Elder Network, better known as HEN.

Olga was preceded in death by her parents, John and Kristina Sunec Cernak; her 14 siblings, Paul, John, Christine, Elizabeth Cernak Dickson, Daniel, Stephen, Samuel, Anne Cernak Mercery, Suzanne, George, Thomas, Edward, Charles and Michael (Milon) and her two sons, Samuel John Hathaway and Frank Clayton Hathaway.

She is survived by her husband, Frank C. Hathaway of Westhampton; her son, Thomas Reed Hathaway of Westhampton; her beloved grandchildren, Zachary John Hathaway, Abbey Leigh Hathaway, Reed Thomas Hathaway and Austin Charles Hathaway all of Westhampton; two granddaughter-in-laws, Jennifer Niedzielski Hathaway and Lindsey Dodd Hathaway; and one great-granddaughter, Celeste Jenna Hathaway; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect St., Northampton, MA on Thursday, Nov. 8th, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Friday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Westhampton Center Cemetery, Westhampton, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations may be made in the name of Olga Hathaway to Hampshire Community Church, c/o Westfield Evangelical Free Church, 568 Southwick Rd., Westfield, MA 01085 or to Hospice of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, 168 Industrial Dr., Northampton, MA 01060.
