ATLANTIS, Fla.- Raymond Robert Vanasse, Jr., 70, of Northampton, Mass. and Lantana, passed away at JFK Medical Center on June 26, 2012, leaving his family with great sorrow.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Arlene (Young); his loving children, Nicole Vanasse of Fuquay Varina, N.C., Kurt Vanasse of Lantana, Fla. and Karen Galeassi of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; his cherished grandchildren, Blake Raymond Vanasse and Toni and Jack Galeassi. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Parks.
He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Markol.
He served as an Airman in the United States Air Force in Anchorage, Alaska. He went on to have a successful career as a Modified Stock Car Driver where he was known as "Racin Ray #33" in the Northeast Race Track Speedways. He owned and serviced the Quonset Exxon in Hadley, Mass., which too earned him many prestigious awards in Standards of Excellence. He ruled the roads once again working for Consolidated Frieghtways in Chicopee, Mass., prior to his retirement. He was a devoted family man and husband.
A service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary's Cemetery, 156 Bridge Road, Northampton, Mass.
