ROCKLIN, Calif. - Richard A. Altimari was born June 23, 1939, in Northampton, Mass., and passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, 2012, in Rocklin.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janey; son, Scott Altimari of Novato; daughter, Amy Kearney of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; grandsons, Landen, Milo, Kole, Justin and Joey; sister, Gail Altimari-Brown and husband Stewart-Brown; sister-in-law, Beverly Manning and husband Kirk; nieces, Cathrina Altimari-Brown and Blair Meyer; and nephew, Reid Manning.
Richard graduated magna cum laude from Lafayette College and recieved a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts. He also attended Harvard, Amherst College, and recieved his doctorate degree from UCLA.
He began teaching biology in Los Angeles city schools in 1963 and later worked as a school administrator in Huntington Beach and Petaluma. He ended his career as Superintendent of Schools in Gustine Unified School District and in Upper Lake. After retiring, he taught education classes for Chapman University.
Richard loved antiques, gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with his family.
