NORTHAMPTON - Robert J. Bibeau, 81, of 295 South Street, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, after a brief illness.

Robert was born June 11, 1931, in Northampton, the son of the late Alfred and Cora (Cardin) Bibeau.

He was a lifelong resident of the city, attending local schools and graduating from Northampton High School.

Robert was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran. He served with U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and received a Bronze Star, a Presidential Unit Citation, the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. He reenlisted and served with the U.S. Navy aboard the Aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Independence from 1959 to 1962. He was honorably discharged and returned home.

Bob worked at Pro-Brush before going to the City of Northampton and working in City Hall as a custodian until his retirement.

He enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles. Bob Loved watching sports, historical shows and was an avid Yankees fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bob loved playing pool at the World War II Club with his friends and also enjoyed his Saturday breakfasts at the Bluebonnet Diner. He was amazingly lucky when it came to scratch tickets.

He leaves his sister, Jeannette Turati, with whom he lived; his sister, Rita Lemke; and his brother, Charles Bibeau; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton will be on Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning from the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton at 9 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 10 a.m..

Burial with full Militray Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton.
