CHICOPEE – Robert Prouser, 68, of Chicopee, died Monday, June 11, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by family. Bob, son of the late Anne and Melvin Prouser of Northampton, was a 1968 graduate of Northampton High School.

He served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972, attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer Third Class. He was subsequently employed by the Internal Revenue Service, as an auditor ("firm but fair," he would say), and then as a uniformed Fuel Compliance Officer.

Together with his years in the Navy, he served his country for over 40 years. He is survived by his sons Benjamin and Joshua, by his sister Susan Kitmacher (Gary), and brothers, Richard (Nancy) and Rabbi Joseph (Ora).

He will be receiving military honors at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA.

Shiva will be observed at the home of Rabbi and Ora Prouser, 515 Reservoir Drive, Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, where family and friends will celebrate Bob's love of family, exemplary devotion to his parents, dry wit, and sincere patriotism.
