WILLIAMSBURG – Ruth E. Parsons of Williamsburg, passed away at home Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

Born Sept. 26, 1921, in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Irene (Deplidge) Claydon.
She attended Northampton schools, graduating from Northampton High School in 1938. Mrs. Parsons also attended the former Northampton Commercial College.
She worked for several years as a sales clerk at the former McCallum's department store. Mrs. Parsons also worked at Chartpak in Leeds and as a sales clerk at the former Ann August store. She was secretary to the director of the American Red Cross in Northampton, retiring in 1974.
Ruth was married for 62 happy years to Robert T. Parsons who predeceased her in 2009.
She leaves a daughter Jane and son-in-law David Bickford of Northampton, a son Edward and daughter-in-law Nancy Parsons of Littleton, three granddaughters, Amy Conklin, Heather Parsons and Sarah Bickford; and a grandson; two great-grandsons, Cameron Conklin and Aiden Conklin.
In her lifetime Ruth enjoyed knitting, bowling and playing bridge. She belonged to the Hatfield Women's Bridge Club for many years. In recent years she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing games, watching Red Sox baseball and spending time with her family. Ruth was a member of the Williamsburg Congregational Church.

Calling hours at the Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect St., will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Mrs. Parsons funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Williamsburg Congregational Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
