FLORENCE- Shirley M. (Steidler) Rodgers, of Florence, passed away on Aug. 8, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born March 21, 1934, in Northampton, the daughter of the late David and Mae (Barnes) Steidler.

Shirley graduated from Northampton High School and from the former Northampton Commercial College. She was a life long resident of Northampton and prior to her retirement she worked at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital for many years; her last position being in the Social Service Department. She was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church. She was a great Boston Red Sox fan and had the opportunity to visit Fenway Park on multiple occasions. Her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family and friends.

Shirley leaves her loving children, Mark Rodgers and wife Cynthia of Kannapolis North Carolina, Susan North and husband James of Florence and Keith Rodgers of Florence, her grandchildren Daniel North and wife Tiffany, Jessica North, Amy Bartoszewicz, Matthew Bartoszewicz, her great grandchildren Cole and Paige, whom she adored. She also leaves her wonderful, devoted sister, Irene Steidler of Florence.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Annunciation Chapel, 87 Beacon St. Florence (Please meet directly at Church).

Shirley's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, August 13 th from 5-7 p.m. at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Rd. Northampton.
