NORTHAMPTON - Theresa M. (Perrea) Thomas, 88, of Milton Street, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at home.

Born Sept. 6, 1924, in Easthampton, she was the daughter of the late William and Louise (Carrier) Perrea.
Theresa was educated in local schools and was a graduate of the Smith Vocational School of Nursing in 1972. She was a LPN at the former Providence Hospital in Holyoke before working in the maternity ward at Cooley Dickinson Hospital from 1973 to 2003.
Theresa was a very active and longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church since 1955 where she was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality since 1984 and a member of the choir. She was an accomplished tailor, knitter, crocheter and quilter.
Jan. 17, 1942, she married Raymond J. Thomas. He passed away in 1967.
She is survived by her children Donna A. Vincent and her husband Mitchell of Belchertown, Elaine A. Henrichon and her husband Robert of Belchertown, William J. Thomas of Northampton and Theresa M. Birchfield of Northampton; her brother Edgar Perrea of Northampton; her sister Leona Thomas of Belchertown; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her son Raymond W. Thomas, two sisters, a brother and her son-in-law Justin "Dale" Birchfield.
Theresa's funeral will be Monday, July 1, at 12 p.m. at the Ahearn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling hours will precede the Funeral Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
