WHATELY- Michael (Mike) S. Pasiecnik Sr. died Nov. 6, 2012, at Charlene Manor in Greenfield after a short illness . He was a lifelong resident of Whately.

He was born July 2, 1918, in Whately. His parents, Mary and Philip Pasiecnik, were immigrants from Ukraine.
His wife Muriel lives at their residence in Whately.
He leaves seven children, Carol Carlson of Whately, Mary Bovino and husband Tony of South Deerfield, Nancy Rogaleski and partner Bill Cummings of Plainfield, Mikki Telega and husband Ted of Leverett, Michael S. Pasiecnik Jr. and wife Debbie of South Deerfield, James Pasiecnik of South Deerfield and Philip Pasiecnik and wife Jackie of South Deerfield; nine grandchildren, Karin Carlson, Greg Carlson, Suzanne Rogaleski, Michelle Lucas, Melissa Pasiecnik, Nick Pasiecnik, Justine, Joanna and Jill Pasiecnik; three step-grandchildren, Ted Telega, Jr., Danny Telega and Joanne Bartucca; a sister, Philamina Maslanka; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Eileen Baj.
He attended Deerfield High School and graduated from Smith Vocational High School.
Mike was a member of the 1936 and 1937 Smith Schools championship baseball teams and played basketball. He was drafted by a major league baseball team upon graduation but due to the war was unable to accept.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. He traveled to several surrounding states to pursue his passion and bagged many a deer.
Mike farmed his whole life in Whately, first with his parents and then with his wife and seven children. He is known as a legend in the farming community. He was the "go-to farmer" for several equipment and seed companies and other farmers in the area.
Michael's family would like to thank the staff at Charlene Manor for their exceptional care and compassion.

Funeral services will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 9 at 9:15 a.m. from the Wrisley Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church with Rev. Fr. Philippe Roux, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
