EASTHAMPTON - Richard P. Carotenuto Sr., 68, of Camelot Lane, passed away on Jan 4, 2013, at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Northampton, he is the son of the late Anthony and Julia (Wozniak) Carotenuto.
Richard retired as a senior master sargeant with the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran.
After retiring from the military, he had worked for the former Kellogg Brush Co. and retired as a supervisor. He was a self-employed handyman extraordinaire, a 1962 graduate of Smith Vocational High School, a member of the American Legion Dalton LaVallee Post 224, the Umpire Association, Hampshire Softball Association and a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church.
His passion was construction and sharing his craft of home improvements.
He leaves his loving wife of 40 years, Christine (Carroll) Carotenuto; a son Richard P. Carotenuto Jr. of Westfield; a daughter, Angelo Pagliuca and her husband Michael of Easthampton; his sister, Dianne Morissette and her husband Al of Easthampton; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St., Easthampton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 33 Adams St., Easthampton. Burial with military honors will be held at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
