SUNDERLAND – Edward F. Fydenkevez, 83, of 50 Reservation Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Leeds.

He was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Hadley, the son of Frank and Katherine (Swinconek) Fydenkevez. Edward was educated in Hadley schools and graduated from Hopkins Academy in 1948.

He joined the U.S. Marines and served in the Korean War as a staff sergeant. He participated in the Assault and Seizure of Inchon and the Capture and Securing of Seoul. After his discharge, he graduated from Northampton Commercial College.

He was married Aug. 7, 1954, to Laurie Bordeaux in St. John's Church in Millers Falls. They made their home in Hadley until 1987, then moved to Sunderland. Edward worked at Pro Brush, a division of Vistron in Florence, retiring as vice-president of sales for Perstorp Corporation in Florence.

He enjoyed sports, the Red Sox and the Patriots and he was an avid gardener.

He leaves one son, Daniel Fydenkevez and his wife Deborah of Lebanon, Conn.; three daughters, Katherine Jackson of Montague, Sharon Stockwell and her husband Norman of Sunderland and Teresa Fydenkevez of Montague; one brother, John Fydenkevez and his wife Jean of Hadley; two sisters, Mary Bodzinski of Belchertown and Jean Fydenkevez of Hadley; three grandchildren, Adam and Chad Stockwell and Kaitlyn Fydenkevez; and Edward's companion Elizabeth Waskiewicz of Reno, Nev.

He was predeceased by one brother, Frank, Jr., and two sisters, Victoria Zwirek and Theresa Pippert.

There are no calling hours at the request of the deceased, with private funeral services under the direction of the Wrisley Funeral Home.
