EASTHAMPTON - Lillian (Mohr) Kessler, 88, of Easthampton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at the Overlook of Northampton Nursing Facility.

She was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Holyoke, the daughter of the late John and Dorothea Gebhardt Mohr. She attended Holyoke schools and was a 1942 graduate of Holyoke High School.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William Kessler, making their home in Easthampton since the early 1950's.
She was executive secretary in the 1970's for the Easthampton Council on Aging. Lillian was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Easthampton, member of the Ladies Aid Society, and a leader of the church youth group.
Lillian was an avid baker who made wedding cakes for business and family. Her love of the outdoors included camping and spending time out at her pool. Her hobbies were crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting. Her love of children went far beyond her immediate family.
Lillian is survived by two sons, William Kessler, Jr., of Florida, and Mark Kessler and wife Martha; one daughter Janet Kessler Baron and husband Joseph, all of Easthampton; five grandchildren, Amy L. (Kessler) Cichy, Beth Ann (Kessler) Gates, Cheryl M. Kessler, Christopher J. Baron and Cody A. Baron; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Joshua Thompson.
Lillian was predeceased by her brother John Mohr and sister Philomena Mohr.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. in the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Easthampton. Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Lillian's memory may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church organ fund.
