Ronald Serge "Ron" Naumchick (1943 - 2014)

FLORENCE - Ronald Serge Naumchick, 70, of Fern Street in Florence, and South Forks, Maine, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Before his passing, Ron chose and wanted to share his epitaph "I did the best I could with what I had".

He was born Oct. 25, 1943, in Northampton, the son of Jean (Waloweek) Naumchick of Florence, and the late Serge Naumchick. He was raised and educated in Northampton, attending local schools and graduating from Northampton High School in 1962 and Western New England College in 1966.

Ron worked as a chemical engineer for the Xerox Corporation for 31 years before retiring in 2000.

He leaves his beloved wife of 43 years, Sandy (Perkins) Naumchick. He was predeceased by his first wife Dabney (Saunders) Naumchick in 1969. He and Sandy raised six beautiful children, Kelly (Lutz) Webb and her husband Brian of Danielson, Conn., Rick Lutz and his wife Prudence of Penfield, N.Y., Mike Lutz of Middleton, Conn., Margaret (Maggie) (Naumchick) Rauh and her husband Fran of Agawam, Lisa (Lutz) Wise of Ontario, N.Y., and Tanya (Naumchick) Lawton of Jamestown, N.Y. He is also survived by his siblings Gloria (Naumchick) Magdalenski and her husband Ray of Easthampton, Janet (Naumchick) Zmaczynski and her husband Mike of Easthampton, and Steve Naumchick and his wife Doreen of Chicopee. He also leaves 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ron and Sandy successfully raised two seeing eye dogs, Mozart and Halston. Mozart and Halston, as well as their wonderful Hannah, predeceased Ron, while he was survived by his beloved Stellah.

There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the St. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Florence in the spring. The Czelusniak Funeral home of Northampton has been entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind and the VNA and Hospice of Cooley Dickinson would be greatly appreciated.
