EASTHAMPTON - Richard C. Robare, 83, of Easthampton, passed away suddenly at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.
He was born in Easthampton April 30, 1930, the son of the late Robert and Raneth (Bruyette) Robare. He was educated in the Easthampton schools.
Richard had been employed for 27 years as both a foreman and machinist at the H.B. Smith Co. in Westfield, retiring in 1992. Previously he had been employed at the Hampden Specialty Products in Easthampton for 16 years.
Richard was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church, now the Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Easthampton.
His beloved wife of 48 years, Claire C. (LaPolice) Robare, passed away in 1997, and his beloved son, David R. Robare, also passed away in 1997.
Richard leaves his loving children, Linda M. Nolet of Easthampton, Diana L. Courchesne of Granby and Cindy A. Lochert of Easthampton; his 10 adored grandchildren; his 24 cherished great-grandchildren, his caring brother, Robert W. Robare, of Easthampton; and his many nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his grandchildren, John Paul Robare in 1976 and Michelle L. Courchesne in 2007; his brothers Wilfred and Gerald Robare; and his sister Elizabeth Terrell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the O'Brien Funeral Home, 17 Clark St., followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of the Valley Church, 33 Adams St. Burial will be in the St. Brigid's Cemetery. All are in Easthampton. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
