SOUTH DEERFIELD - Albert Noel Seymour, 92 of South Deerfield, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side Sunday April 27, 2014 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. He was born in Easthampton to Henry and Alimina Ethier Seymour.

Albert entered the United States Army in September of 1942, beginning his basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas. He served in Company B, 387th Infantry Regiment of the 97th Division in both the European and Pacific theaters. The 97th Division Company B is credited with firing the last shot that ended the war in the European Theater. Albert was granted an Honorable Discharge in February of 1946 from the United States Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He returned to Easthampton where he met and married his wife Anna Morawski of Whately. In the mid 1960's Albert taught industrial woodworking in his spare time at the Hill Institute in Florence. He and his wife Anna later retired to South Deerfield where he loved working with wood, building homes, creating custom cabinets and watching all the New England Sports teams. He delighted in playing with his faithful dog Holly, traveling within the US and Europe for his Company B reunions and spending time with family. Albert was also actively involved with the local veterans association. After Albert's retirement, some of his and Anna's memorable travel experiences were trips to many US Army installations in the United States, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and the Great Ocean road of Australia, Normandy, France and Pilsner, Czechoslovakia.
